How do I make back up copies of my PS2 games?

I have a mod chipped PS2 ( legally fitted in Australia) and I should be able to play copied back ups of my PS2 games. I have tried to make copies using a basic DVD burner but they will not play. Does anyone know what I need to do to make copies that will work?

Have a great day!

If you’re a PS3 owner then you are well aware of the cost of the games these days, your talking £35 – £55 each. The graphics and game play in some of the games is truly awesome and well worth the money. The problem I had is that my games tended to get scratched or just became less efficient over time, I’ve even had an occasion were my brother broke my game two days after I bought it, and lets face it it’s not like we can run out and buy a replacement at those prices . Well recently I found the solution to this problem – MAKE BACKUP COPIES OF YOUR GAMES.

Let me answer a few questions that are no doubt going around in your head at the moment before we proceed.

(Q ) IS IT LEGAL?

(A) Yes it Legal; When you purchase a game, new or used, you then have a proprietary software license, this means that as the owner you are entitled to make back-up copies for your own personal use. In other words you can make as many copies as you want as long as you don’t try sell them to anyone else. I would keep a receipt to prove ownership just in case.

(Q) DO I REQUIRE SOME SPECIALISED SOFTWARE?

(A) Yes, PS3 games are more complex than the PS2 games. They are better protected than the PS2 games and therefore you can not copy them using your PC and ordinary DVD burning software. You will need to purchase a specialised software that can get past the protection of the PS3 game

(Q) DO I NEED TO MODIFY MY PS3 TO PLAY THE COPIED GAMES

(A) There are some products on the market that do require slight modification to your PS3 so that you can play the copied game, there are also the newer programs which do not. Most of the programs allow to play the games that you copy on your PC

(Q) WILL THERE BE ANY LOSS OF PICTURE OR SOUND QUALITY IN THE COPIED GAME

(A) Your copied games will be exact replicas of your originals with no adverse effects to the sound or graphics. I would even advise you to play the copies and keep your originals safe.

So now that I’ve put your mind at rest let me explain how simple it is to make back-up copies of your favourite games.

How to copy your games in 5 easy steps:

Step 1 Download the software

Step 2 Insert your game into the PC CD/DVD drive

Step 3 Open up the software

Step 4 Copy the game to your hard drive – using the downloadable tutorial instructions

Step 5 Insert a blank disc and copy your game to the disc.

That’s it! Your now have a duplicate of your game and you wont have to worry about it getting damaged or lost.
